Piezoelectric Standard Shapes and Sizes
Research and development features prominently in the Material Division's activities and has led to the establishment of close links with Universities and Research Centres throughout the world. In addition to market driven, internally-funded programmes aimed at improving existing products and developing novel materials, the Division carries out Government sponsored research and is participating in several collaborative contracts.
This extensive materials and engineering expertise allows the Division to produce a wide range of experimental and prototype components in addition to the standard range of products. Our applications engineers are always pleased to assist and advise customers seeking new solutions to problems involving piezoelectric materials.
Standard Mechanical Tolerance
Tolerances on Ground Dimensions
| Outer Diameter | ± 0.15mm |
| Inner Diameter | ± 0.15mm |
| Thickness | ± 0.05mm |
| Squareness (Edge to Face) | Within 0.5° |
| Concentricity | 0.2mm T.I.R |
| Surface Flatness | Within 12µm (0.012mm) |
| Parallelism | Within 12µm (0.012mm) |
| Surface Finish | Within 3µm (0.003mm) |
| Frequency | Up to 2MHz, ±5% |
| Above 2MHz, ±7% |
Components can be produced to tighter tolerances on request but care should be taken not to overspecify a tolerance as this can significantly increase costs. Where slacker tolerances can be accommodated, for example on disc diameters or ring diameters, then advantage can often be taken of "as-fired" tolerances which can significantly reduce cost.
"As Fired"Tolerances"
± 0.3mm or 3% whichever is the greater.
