The Role – Principal Objectives:

● Assume technical responsibility for the sourcing / specifying of raw materials, the manufacture of ceramic powders, the forming of ceramic components and the firing of ceramic components;
● to work closely with production personnel to ensure that ‘best practice’ is adopted for the manufacture of ceramic components;
● to be able to analyse problems in ceramic manufacture and identify appropriate solutions, ensuring that the solution can be sustained for future manufacture;
● to identify potential needs for greater process control and to propose implement improvements to processes;
● to take overall responsibility for process improvement proposals and implementation in the powder preparation department;
● to work with / assist in the development of materials for improved performance in line with business demands / strategy;
● to ensure the development of technical competence within the production team, as the emphasis changes from immediate improvement and problem solving to longer-term material development;
● to work closely with the product technical teams in establishing ceramic powder performance and quality specifications to meet the future requirements of our customers and/or markets;
● assume responsibility for the production team following appropriate process control measures;
● to ensure a rapid response to problems in ceramic powder manufacture to identify / implement appropriate solutions, ensuring that the solution can be sustained for future manufacture;
• to ensure the development of technical competence within the team, as the emphasis changes from immediate process control and problem solving to longer-term material improvement and development.

The Person – Key Requirements:

• Strong intellect with an ability to rapidly identify key issues, to see the big picture and apply the “common sense” test.
• Excellent communication skills that focus on simplicity and clarity of presentation, both written and oral.
• Strong inter-personal skills with the ability to work with a diverse team in terms of seniority, function
• Able to influence people at all levels of the organization, and secure their buy in and commitment.
• High energy and an ability to demonstrate resilience in achieving goals/targets.
• Attention to detail and an ability to deliver to the highest standard, within rigid timeframes.
