Manufacturing Engineer
Brief Overview:
Primary responsibility for product engineering and production capable processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing engineering responsibilities will include production tooling design & manufacture, new product introduction, product manufacture costing/estimating, production support and management of engineering projects.
- To drive continuous improvement using appropriate tools such as SPC, PFMEA, DoE, Parento Analysis, etc., in order to achieve overall business objectives of process/material cost reduction, waste reduction, quality improvement and lead time reduction.
- Assist in the development of standardised operating procedures;
- Introduce flow / workplace organisation (plant layout, 5S, etc.) plant wide;
- Liaise with contractors &/or suppliers to manage production projects;
- Be familiar with testing and inspection routines used to check product quality during the production process;
- Lead root cause analysis and develop training for all personnel to ensure that route causes are found and eliminated;
- Carry out process audits to identify potential areas of non conformity and develop resolutions;
- Auditing against national and international standards such as ISO14001, ISO 9001:2000, etc.
- Work closely with Process Leaders to help with everyday production / quality problems;
- Work to pre-agreed objectives and targets, as determined by the Engineering Manager and in line with business objectives.
Previous Experience:
- Relevant previous experience, ideally within either a fast moving component manufacturing environment or a high complexity batch processing;
- Proven experience of process improvement / value engineering;
- Able to demonstrate a high level of achievement in problem solving;
- Experience of control systems engineering (including PLC) would be desirable;
- Experience of tool / jig design would be desirable.
Qualifications:
- Educated to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline (ideally mechanical engineering); although applications from applicants via a ‘time served’ route would be considered.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- High level of proficiency in MS Office;
- Experience in the use of CAD, preferably AutoCAD.
